I met Margarita Isupova in summer of 2016. A "NISE" Girl. She's the founder of a language school called Now I Speak English "NISE GIRLS", (That's how she called her teachers). I spent some days with her during an exhibition to promote her school. Here's a hint
Meeting Stefaniya's parents was a bit nerve-racking. Luckily her mother liked my work, it was her 45th birthday, so I had an excuse to bring my camera. One still after another turned into this video @ Colicchio & Sons, one of my favorite restaurants at the time, while living in Chelsea. Unfortunately after 10 years they closed, but chef Tom Colicchio opened a new restaurant in Financial District called Fowler and Wells, so we are still neighbors. We had a great dinner. Here are highlights to the sounds of Natasha's favorite band, Gus Gus.
For a while, my neighbor was Katya Lee. A girl who used to sing in a pop super band in russia called Hi-Fi (2006 - 2010) I had seen her once at a friend's birthday, years ago. When she moved in, we became friends and shot several videos. Here's one called Big Brother again. and a video of her eating a salad.
"I'm gonna work a bit now. Yoga at 17.00, home again @ 18.30. How about I cook a carbonara at our place?. We love to have you over :-)"
In 2015 I traveled to Stockholm (I heard they had the cleanest air so I decided to purify my lungs from the nasty New York City air for a bit), and met this outstanding character, who saved me from two dragons who were flying over my head, fighting for my soul... Really. We became instant friends.
His name is Nima Koucheki, a brilliant man of many trades. Aside from preparing a great carbonara (I took a break from my vegan diet for it), he's working constantly on his upcoming books & podcast. We had long conversations, truly engaged and grateful to exchange thoughts.
I came back to Södermalm to meet his lovely wife to be: Stina Stjärnström, who deserves a post of her own. A lovely week we spent before their outrageous wedding (coming soon).
